PULLMAN, Wash. – Add another accolade to former Billings Senior High School star Taylor Mims’ trophy case. The Washington State senior earned AVCA Pacific North all-Region honors, which were announced Tuesday.

Mims, who also earned all-Pac-12 recognition, has been a key component of the Cougars’ offensive attack throughout her career and currently ranks seventh in program history with 1,293 career kills. She’s third all-time in WSU history with 1,620.5 points in her career, as well, and is also a defensive force, ranking in the top 10 in three different blocking categories: total blocks (fourth with 434), block assists (fourth with 371) and solo blocks (sixth with 63).

This season, Mims is second on the team in total kills with 394 with a hitting percentage of .225. She has a team-high 3.79 kills per set.

Montana’s 2014 Gatorade volleyball player of the year, Mims helped lead Senior to three consecutive Class AA state championships (2012-14).

The Cougars opened up NCAA Tournament play with wins over Northern Arizona in the first round and the University of Tennessee in the second. They play No. 1 overall seed Stanford at 6:30 p.m. (MT) Friday in the Sweet 16.
